Nov 2014: Super Cooley Goes Ballistic, Bunyan Is Atrocious*
* actually he played quite well, considering
03/11/14: He'll never win any trophies for on court sartorial elegance, but Nick Bunyan did manage to get his hands on the silverware at the 2014 Midland Tournament at Repton at the weekend; to quickly silence the gasps of disbelief echoing around the Fives world on reading that sentence it should be stated that he was being partnered by multiple Kinnaird champion Seb Cooley. It wasn't entirely the Cooley show, however, with Nick making a real contribution to their final win over Howard Wiseman and Olavian schoolboy Tom Gallagher: if medals were awarded for sitting on the ledge under the front wall, shouting "yours" and getting out of the way, Nick would be first in the queue.

The 2013 edition of the Midlands Tournament took place at Repton over the weekend of November 2nd/3rd. Midlands Tournament 2012: O'Neill and Theodossi rule at Repton
40 pairs took part in the 2012 Midland Tournament at Repton over the weekend, an event that is always one of the highlights of the Fives calendar. Uberveteran Nigel Cox narrowly failed in his attempt to make a second final in this competition, 42 years after his first, as he and Seb Cooley were beaten at the semi-final stage by Old Westminsters Ed Rose and Laurie Brock. Ed and Laurie then went on to lose narrowly in a terrific final to Berkhamsted coach/old boy pair Anthony Theodossi and Jeremy O'Neill, Ant winning the title for the second time in three years.

2009 Midlands: Wiseman and Cooley reign at Repton
Dominique Redmond reports:
This year's Midland Tournament took place at Repton on the weekend of October 31st/November 1st. Nearly forty pairs made the pilgrimage to Derbyshire for one of the most sociable and fun events on the Fives calendar. The Fives was pretty good too, with Olavians Howard Wiseman and Seb Cooley coming away with the trophy.
2008 Midlands Tournament
Dominique Redmond reports:
This year's event was bigger and better than last year, as we had over double the entry and over double the number of players, guests and partners at the evening dinner. We had over 40 pairs enter across the weekend with three of the 40 pairs coming from the Rugby Fives community at Derby Moor School which is just up the road - they were most welcome and should be congratulated for their effort.
